Pizza

Photographing pizza is always fun. I thought I’d try Domino’s pizza for a change of pace. I hadn’t eaten there since probably the 1990s. This is a vegetarian thin crust with double cheese. I’m not sold on the way they cut their pizza, because it’s nice to have a ledge of crust to hold at all times. It’s a good, flavorful pizza though. The sauce is really savory.┬áThe crust is a little “flat” in flavor, but has a nice cracker like texture.

Andre’s Confiserie Suisse in Kansas City

Cookie photos! I had been meaning to post newer food photos on here but kept procrastinating. It was a busy year. I finally had some time this week so I thought I’d post. These are Christmas cookies made at Andre’s, a local chocolatier in Kansas City that also operates as a small gourmet restaurant.

Drinkage – The Republic of Tea (& How to Get Your OWN Free Tea!)

My Twitter friend @RealityJulie mailed me three sample canisters of tea from her family owned business, The Republic of Tea. I was expecting the kind of boxes of tea you might find in the local grocery store. But this is the good stuff (high end, quality teas).

I was particularly intrigued by the SuperFruit Pomegranate and Get Probiotic. And of course, what insomniac doesn’t love a good basic tea like chamomile lemon? I like a big mug of tea, and one circular bag of the Pomegranate was enough to make a “dense” brew. The Get Probiotic is a good tea that also contains Bacilus coagulans, good bacteria for digestion.

You can explore their website by clicking here. I was surprised that I had never heard of this company before and that they have such a vast selection. I’m going to be checking out the SuperHerb teas and a few others the next time I’m at a Whole Foods location. Though any of these can be purchased online. (Click here to be directed to information about this tea on the Whole Foods website.)

Oh and if you want to try this out for yourself, or know someone who is a tea drinker, go to their website and in the lower right corner, click on Request a Catalogue. They’ll send you a free tea sample with EVERY catalog! (I checked with Julie and she said as each new catalog is mailed out, you get a single tea sample. Usually the sample is something new they’re offering like watermelon mint.)

Remember the Chick-O-Stick?

These were one of the staples of my childhood small-town swimming pool concession stand, along with the likes of sweet tart lipsticks and candy necklaces. Things kids can run around with in full sun and they won’t melt or make a mess. I have no idea if they even make the full size Chick-O-Stick anymore, but I noticed these bite size snacks at Hobby Lobby.

And a few random donut photos I hadn’t posted yet.

I though I’d cut open a jelly donut to see what was inside.

There’s a story behind these donuts. Last week, I heard a knock at my front door. I open the door and there is my neighbor Jack. He is alarmed because directly to his left there’s a fountain in my yard that wasn’t there before. Turns out, the pipe that directs water into my house broke. Long story short, Jack helped me fix the problem and a few hours later, everything at the Amityville Horror House was back to relative normal. So to thank Jack for his help, I stopped by the donut shop up the street that he has raved about in the past to get him a gift certificate. While there, I thought, I have a food photography website that’s pretty much become a donut website. So I should snap some photos. But my first photos were on the dark side so I wasn’t happy with how they turned out. So I went back today to snap some new photos with better lighting.

If you’re in Lake Havasu City, Arizona, breakfast here might be the best part of your visit.
