Frozen Delights

The Ice Cream Sundae Cupcake

—-

I’ve seen this style of cupcake in dozens of different variations. Basically, any kind of cake will do. Then you usually ice the cupcake with white frosting to imitate ice cream. In this photo, it’s obviously imitating Neapolitan ice cream. You then drizzle the tops of your cupcakes with chocolate syrup or melted chocolate. You can also add chopped peanut toppings, chocolate chips, pieces of waffle cones or sprinkles. (Chopped nuts really give it that ice cream sundae feel.) I’ve also seen these topped with Reddi Wip instead of frosting (if you’re in a hurry and the cupcakes are being eaten soon).

And finally, you’re absolutely required to top it with a maraschino cherry.

Cool Classics – Frozen Pops – Ice Cream Bars, Banana Pops and Strawberry Shortcake Bars

It was 119F in Havasu today, so I was having trouble getting photos in the frozen dessert aisle. Everyone standing in the way, trying to push me out of the way with their carts! The nerve.
