These were one of the staples of my childhood small-town swimming pool concession stand, along with the likes of sweet tart lipsticks and candy necklaces. Things kids can run around with in full sun and they won’t melt or make a mess. I have no idea if they even make the full size Chick-O-Stick anymore, but I noticed these bite size snacks at Hobby Lobby.
And a few random donut photos I hadn’t posted yet.
I though I’d cut open a jelly donut to see what was inside.
There’s a story behind these donuts. Last week, I heard a knock at my front door. I open the door and there is my neighbor Jack. He is alarmed because directly to his left there’s a fountain in my yard that wasn’t there before. Turns out, the pipe that directs water into my house broke. Long story short, Jack helped me fix the problem and a few hours later, everything at the Amityville Horror House was back to relative normal. So to thank Jack for his help, I stopped by the donut shop up the street that he has raved about in the past to get him a gift certificate. While there, I thought, I have a food photography website that’s pretty much become a donut website. So I should snap some photos. But my first photos were on the dark side so I wasn’t happy with how they turned out. So I went back today to snap some new photos with better lighting.
If you’re in Lake Havasu City, Arizona, breakfast here might be the best part of your visit.

Why did it take this long for someone to make an ice cream cupcake? Available in the freezer section, obviously.
Saw these interesting cupcake kits. I may actually make these so I can see what they look like in person. The vintage feel and the fact it comes with the mix, icing and unique candy cane sprinkles makes me want this for reasons.
This Haagen-Dazs photo is an optical illusion. These are two half gallon tankers of ice cream. So if you don’t mind spending $12, one of these could fill some deep emotional voids.
Gingerbread house kit for the creative person who doesn’t like to bake. All the fun, none of the recipes.
